Uh-huh. I'm sorry, but as much as the government leaks on the least little thing, I just don't buy that they could cover up something like this for 60 years. But this will certainly get lots of press with him being a doctor and astronaut.

Unless these aliens have some ruthless brain control powers or actually manage to kill anyone who starts to leak the info, I completely agree. A conspiracy of silence that lasts 60 years among multiple governments is far, far less believable than the presence of 20 different species of aliens on Earth right now.

Even smart folks can be hoaxed -- look at Arthur Conan Doyle's belief in spiritualism. I also note Mitchell didn't claim to have seen any aliens personally, he was just "briefed" about them. Frankly I don't have a lot of faith in the ability of government-employed schmucks to recognize holes in UFO sightings, anymore than non-government schmucks.

I admit I'm tempted to make jokes about how the retroreflector at Apollo 14 is the most variable (true), and maybe that's due to all the moon aliens kicking up dust in the area. But there are too many people who believe this stuff literally and have warped their lives around it, so it isn't really all that funny.
