A new movie that recently opened featuring an ultra modern airplane totally controlled by artificial intelligence that turns to the dark side of the Air Force (we have VERY good cookies!) after a lightning strike reprograms the AI.

I haven’t seen it yet, it looks quite silly and could be fun. Maybe I’ll see it while it’s still in the theatres.

I have one serious problem with what they portray. Jet fighters need something to operate: jet fuel. So a plane goes crazy, but it’s so good that the best pilots can’t shoot it down. I have no idea how they ultimately take it out, but how much fuel does this bastard carry?

Anyway, Popular Science has an amusing little article that succeeds in shooting down a number of bad science elements in the movie. I don’t think it really counts as spoilers, but it does talk about elements in the movie not seen in the trailers.

I love bad movie science, could go on about that all day. What's even funnier is people who try to defend the lack of scientific know how.
