Russ was asking my opinion on emmigrating somewhere. My basic response was: where? You look at that list and you see pretty much every country in the world pulling weird political shit like that.
At least here we can understand a little bit of it, as opposed to going to another country and having to re-decode it all. Some of the crap that people are arrested for in England is just unbelievable, I particularly liked the one where a person was charged with a law that was enacted in 1381!
Re the emigration question: This shines an enlightening light on why, perhaps, I think in terms of places like Belize or Costa Rica. You (a) expect them to be slightly weird, and (b) I suspect an American ex-pat gets handled gently if you're not in-yer-face about breaking obvious laws like drugs and pederasty. Belize was a British colony until a few decades ago, so English is the local tongue; and rumor has it they welcome virtually anybody with a profession and $100,000 dollars to their name. Since I figure I'd get at least that for my townhouse...
