Apparently Nevada law requires all officiants to be affiliated with a church. Some athiests don't like the connotation of being associated with a church, perhaps not unlike the International Organization of Individualists or the Fraternal Brotherhood of Anarchists, they just don't group well together.

...huh. I did not know that. And now that I do, I think it's silly to require a church affiliation to officiate over joining ceremonies. Yet another reason why we should switch over to requiring a civil official be the person who authorizes and signs the union document, and then let people have whatever ceremony they want on top of that.
