South Carolina considering a bill making the public use of profanity a felony

Oh, shit: "publishes orally or in writing, exhibits, or otherwise makes available anything obscene to any a group or individual" and "A person who violates the provisions of this section is guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than five thousand dollars or imprisoned not more than five years, or both."

I am certain that this will make South Carolina a haven for calm, well-reasoned discourse where course utterances shall become nothing but a foul memory. Yeah, and monkeys might fly out of my ass.

Still in committee. Am guessing it will stay there and die a quiet and peaceful death, because that bill will either make lots of money for S.C., put a lot of people in its prisons, or depopulate the state if it passes.
