TigerDirect, who bought the brick & mortar CompUSA, has bought CircuitCity.com. It looks like they bought the online presence and trademarks, so I'm not sure if anything would prevent them from opening Circuit City stores, except what would be the point since they now have CompUSA stores, which are frequently located near the ghosts of Circuit City stores.

HOWEVER, be very careful buying from CircuitCity.com! They apparently have some incredibly restrictive return policies, including not accepting any returns for purchases from "Compaq, IBM, Hewlett Packard, Toshiba, Epson and others."

So basically, I guess you should maybe stick with NewEgg for online shopping? Except they wouldn't confirm a shipment for me to be delivered to my parent's house so I could get a higher capacity hard drive installed in my Mac while I was last in Phoenix, so I had to cancel the order, so NewEgg isn't exactly #1 on my go-to list of where to buy stuff online.
