Remember the webcam school district kerfuffle?

It is now alleged that the administration shot "thousands" of pictures from student laptops. The student who was thought to be popping pills while actually eating Ike & Mike candies, was also photographed while sleeping.

The lawsuit is seeking class-action status on behalf of all students of the district. It also alleges that the IT administrator is a voyeur and is seeking forensic discovery of her home computer. She's been placed on administrative leave and is taking the 5th on all questions being sent her way, including when asked if she's ever copied photos from this system to her personal computer.


Ugly, ugly, ugly.

Very ugly. I would hope that the administrators get a copy of Little Brother delivered to them with the instruction "not a training manual" attached.

Mmm. Good to know. It was a fun romp, certainly, and I hope that the people who are working on the ParanoidLinux project do produce a workable item for those times when you want to be absolutely sure nobody is watching.

"Proposed legislation announced late Thursday by Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pennsylvania) would make it a federal felony to remotely spy on private residences and hotel rooms with video cameras."

I don't know if this legislation is directly related to this case, and it doesn't do much for the victimized students, but it's certainly a good thing.

I hope the IT admin - and anybody else involved in this idiotic decision - not only lose their job, but get some jail time.
