Naturally the lawyers get 2/3rds of it. The Feds dropped their investigation, so there's going to be no criminal proceedings. No information on whether the IT director or any other administrators lost their jobs.

Investigators and prosecutors "have found no evidence of criminal intent".

So I guess 'no criminal intent' will become my standard answer whenever I get pulled over by a cop.

Let the civil suits begin!

"Suburban Philadelphia parents and their high school-age children soon will learn the extent of a potentially criminal webcam scandal.

A federal magistrate on Friday ordered the Lower Merion School District to start sending notification letters to any student covertly spied on through their school-issued Macbook, as well as to their parents. The order covers screenshots taken by school officials, and pictures snapped of the pupils through their webcams.

So apparently they're now blaming the IT department for not having proper procedures and controls in place. And who directs the IT director? Management, in this case the school board. If you don't tell IT to do something, it frequently doesn't get done and clearly the big picture was not seen by most people in this case.

Big mess, it's going to cost the district some big bucks.

It is now alleged that the administration shot "thousands" of pictures from student laptops. The student who was thought to be popping pills while actually eating Ike & Mike candies, was also photographed while sleeping.

The lawsuit is seeking class-action status on behalf of all students of the district. It also alleges that the IT administrator is a voyeur and is seeking forensic discovery of her home computer. She's been placed on administrative leave and is taking the 5th on all questions being sent her way, including when asked if she's ever copied photos from this system to her personal computer.

Ugly, ugly, ugly.
