LOL! Yeah, not easy, is it? What's going to happen when the next election cycle comes up and the Tea Partiers look at things like this?

I think he was was awkward about having used a Bushism, not about having promised to cut spending - he's been doing that for a long time now, and everyone knows the spending he wants to cut is the stuff that helps people instead of corporations.

I considered the Bush(1)ism, wasn't sure. Definitely agree that it'll be cutting taxes that don't directly benefit non-super-wealthy people.

Seems much more likely that it would be the Bushism he was boggled on, because that was a major thing that he got made fun of later for. And Boehner probably wants to try and run as far as he can from anything that reminds the voting public of any member of the Bush clan.
