Yes, it's over-budget. Yes, it's going to be late. Yes, it's going to cost more money. But guess what -- every time there is new science being developed, it's basically impossible to correctly budget for it.
This would be a tremendous shame if the Webb Telescope is canceled, especially with Hubble approaching the end of it's life. So much has been learned from Hubble that was totally unanticipated, and I'm sure the same thing would happen with Webb. But with the desire to slash programs and not cut defense, it might be doomed, which would actually be tragic.
