I don't know how to read this
Feb. 15th, 2012 07:39 am"[The French Revolution] was a secular revolution on which we relied on the goodness of each other. This is the left's view of where America should go. And of course where did France go? To the guillotine. To tyranny. If there are no rights that the government needs to respect, then what we see with Obamacare is just the beginning of what government will do to you."
— Rick Santorum
I really don't know how to parse this. Who is the 'we' in the first line, we as individuals, we as government, we as the American people? I think his analogy is more than a little far-fetched.

Date: 2012-02-15 11:31 pm (UTC)Why the hell is he equating Obama's health care reforms with the French Revolution.
*AND* taking pains to mention that said revolution was secular ?
Why both mentioning the secular aspect unless you're trying to hint that the reason that france 'went to the guillotine. To Tyranny etc etc etc' was because religion was not involved.
Not only that, I find it interesting that a bill designed to provide health care to citizens who need it is somehow being portrayed as a move by a government which *doesnt* respect human rights...
*boggle*
Who the hell writes this mans speeches ?
If it's him then he shouldn't be allowed to go near a microphone, let alone stand in front a crowded room.
If its someone else, then they need to be fired - Immediately. and replaced with a fire hydrant.
The Hydrant I feel, would do a lot better.

People get bonuses for destroying companies because of MBA 'best practices' of constantly cutting costs and improving profits.
