I called Cox Communications last month to change my billing so that they would no longer directly withdraw money from my checking account to pay my internet and phone bill. My renter was to take over paying for internet and cable TV, she uses a cell phone for phone service, so the account was to be billed via paper and sent to my conod's address.

This month they took $90 out of my checking account.

Bastards.

Of course the odds of them giving me a refund on that are about the same as Bush admitting that there weren't any WMDs in Iraq.

Your first mistake . . .

. . . was letting ANY creditor have monthly withdrawal privileges on one of your bank accounts. Never make it easy for people to fleece you. ;-)

The thing that sucks is that ONCE I paid my bill through online, and that apparently set it up so that it now comes out in perpetuity. I don't recall agreeing to it becoming a permanent thing, but you never know about these things.

I'll have to spend some time on the phone tomorrow. Failing that, I'll call the bank.

Especially without any kind of documentation you can provide saying you asked them to stop pulling money from your account.

They should be lumped with the telemarketers and publicly whipped with long licorice-whips that've been warmed and rolled in broken glass......
