I just received an email from my employer

(well, technically my work site since I'm a contractor) inviting me to "Family Flu Day."

I think I'll pass. I haven't had my flu shot yet, and I'm pretty susceptible to getting colds. Yeah, I'll give it a miss.

Sharing Is Caring, doncha know?

I'm seriously miffed with my employer. Until this year, they've provided free flu shots for all employees, including the part timers. This year, those who have health insurance (and thus wouldn't be paying much anyway) get them free and the rest of us can go swing in the wind unless we pony up a substantial fee.

I wrote a long, very angry, and very un-sendable email to The Powers That Be saying what a completely asswitted counterproductive and insulting thing this was, particularly when you realize 2/3 of the library staff are part timers. *delete*

Geez. You have my sympathy. Keep your eye out for free/cheap clinics, while I was unemployed/uninsured, I got one flu shot for free, one for $15-20. I'm now insured through Russet, and since Russet's employer is NMSU, flu shots are free. The only problem is that nobody knows when the shots will be available.

I don't understand what "Family Flu Day" is. Is it like taking your kids to play with others who have chicken pox so that they'll get infected too?

That's my guess, I didn't want to open the attachment in case they were doing an early spread of the virus. :p

I'm just glad that it wasn't Family Bubonic Plague Day.
