Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder
Oct. 29th, 2005 09:42 pmProbably most of my readers know what absinthe is. They also probably know that it is illegal and considered lethal due to the wormwood content. Well, a New Orleans biochemist would beg to differ. Due to a slip up in European Union regulations, the ban on absinthe went away. This biochemist has disected the drink in gas chromatograph mass spectrometers and is now producing his own in a distilery in France (it's still illegal in the US, which means you can get it if you have the right contacts). His production won an annual contest for best absinthe formulation, so it sounds like he might know what he's doing.
