"The only thing that the media has speculated on is that it's going to be various men that are running. They haven't speculated, for instance, that I'm going to run. What if I decide to run? And there's a chance I could run...Practice makes perfect."
—Michele Bachmann

Ghods, the funny, and the crazy, it just doesn't stop! In a way, I'm sad to see her leave the House as it removes one source of funny/crazy from the Daily Show et al, but her departure will raise the average IQ of the House by a point or two and that's a good thing.

Bachmann has a point, but it's not the one she's trying to make. It shouldn't be "why is nobody paying attention to me because I'm a viable candidate", because we know that's a lie from her previous record. The objection should be "Why isn't the Republican Party trying to field a female candidate or six for the primaries?" Besides I'm sure they have electable women in their caucus.

I think the answer to the latter question is that although there probably are a half-dozen viable female candidates in the Republican caucus, they aren't visible. All the air time goes to Palin and Bachmann and the other crazies in general, so a woman who may be more politically appealing doesn't get heard and is therefore invisible.

I'm thinking that the likely candidate for the RNC is Rand Paul, and I don't think he can win as he'll be saddled with one of the crazies for Veep. Rick Perry is a no-brainer for not being a viable candidate (pun intended), Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio aren't as viable as they think they are, nor is Jindal. Several of the other big names are under investigation or under indictment, such as Christie, so they're not viable. It's possible Romney will try to run again, hopefully he'd fold early. I wonder if Paul Ryan might try another run in '16. I wish we had a federal law like some states do that if you want to run for an office that you don't hold, you have to resign your current office. That would force a lot more turnover in legislatures across the country.

My personal curiosity is that if Hillary does run in '16, who will be her running mate? I would like to see Elizabeth Warren stay in the Senate another couple of terms because it looks like she could be a powerful force for good there. Wendy Davis needs more political seasoning, either as Gov of TX or perhaps as a State Senator. Get her some more national exposure, some of which she'll get if she makes Gov, even though the Lt. Gov is more powerful in TX.

The ideology problem the Republicans have will only continue to hurt them in general elections, is all I'm saying.

I don't think the Dems have enough genital fortitude to field an all-women ticket, even if they would prefer those optics to the conservative field day of "women in power over men is an abomination" that they would get for nominating Hillary.

All the practise in the world doesn't do a lick of good if you don't have talent.
