This is awesome! My niece was taken to the emergency room after a party, she might have been roofied, we don't know. Fortunately no assault took place.

But I do wonder if this will start up a cascade of change like the 'bath salts' problem has caused. I also wonder if the act of giving someone a drink that you know has been drugged would constitute assault, it should, and if more people got charged for that I think you'd see a reduction in rape.

Checking to see if your drink has been tampered with is about to get a whole lot more discreet. Thanks to the work of four North Carolina State University undergrads, you'll soon be able to find out without reaching for a testing tool. That's because you'll already have five of them on each hand. The team — Ankesh Madan, Stephen Gray, Tasso Von Windheim, and Tyler Confrey-Maloney — has come up with a creative and unobtrusive way to package chemicals that react when exposed to Rohypnol and GHB. They put it in nail polish that they're calling Undercover Colors.

That is entirely awesome. I can imagine the absolute hell that can be raised just by confirmation if the use of the drugs... and then the subsequent calling of the police to capture the drugs and the rapists. Well done.
