Yeah. Those insensitive remarks mirror, in so many ways, how the league is handling it.

I heard a proposal that football be banned in school < college, replaced with soccer, and that < high school would not allow headers. If that program were to take off, where would the NFL be in 20 years?

My wife pointed out that if soccer became The Sport in schools, girls could compete more directly with boys. Interesting concept.

I'd say it stays much the same, because Americans apparently like violent contact sport more than tactical and finesse games. The good thing would be that injuries could be delayed until later points of maturity, at least.

Anecdotally, someone claimed that at a certain point of development, men's soccer teams would be able to outplay women's teams by virtue of being physically stronger and able to just outrun the women, no skill needed.
