This is more of a problem for Internet Explorer 6 users and sadly there are still some of them out there. This is a client attack, not a server attack. This exploits an SSL v3 connection and can happen if you're on a public WiFi network. Recent versions of Windows, i.e. 7 and 8 and probably Vista should be fine.

Indeed - and that's a difficult problem to tackle, as they may, in some cases, represent folk who aren't in a position to upgrade. (Let alone the outright cheapskates, performing the digital role of the parents of deliberately unvaccinated children)

Right. People who can't upgrade because money or software compatibility or being mostly scared of another operating system or software suite that, while free, looks intimidating.
