—title of a new kids' coloring book, whose publisher claims "Millions of citizens believe Obama Care is worse than any war"
Two statements. (A) You seemingly don't like millions of your fellow citizens having some form of affordable health care, and (B) I think you really don't appreciate what war is and what it does to people. I suggest marathoning Band of Brothers and then enlisting in Army Infantry, and we'll see where your opinion is in a decade.
I think Ted is perhaps the most dangerous idiot in Congress because he perverts the system by effectively running the House Tea Party Caucus, which negates any attempt that John Boehner makes to try and get anything done. If Cruz was in the House, fine. But he's not, he's a Senator.

Date: 2014-11-16 03:50 pm (UTC)We're losing the ability to apply critical thinking, we've mostly lost the ability to have polite arguments in politics. I think a lot of this is because of the amount of money in politics, and the money required to be elected or re-elected. A calm, well-reasoned debate doesn't get you on Fox Newts, incindiary flame-war does, and that is what spurs their base to vote the R ticket.
There was an amazing clip shown on TV recently of this idiot Kansas senator who no longer owns a home in Kansas, at a committee meeting with an Indian Doctor, who was born and raised in America and speaks better English than the senator, was told by said senator that 'There's this doctor in my town in Kansas and he's Indian and just the nicest person. You should come up and visit, we have lots of Indians up here.' At least he didn't mix Asian Indians with Native Americans.
I think the Democratics party was particularly feckless this year and tried to respond to Republican talking points and distanced themselves from Obama rather than talking about how much the economy has improved, the mass access to health care, the reduction of the deficit, etc. There's lots of things that Obama has done that I do not like, many things I think he should do but probably won't, but I think he was still a better choice than what the allegedly loyal opposition had on offer.
The 2016 elections are going to be frightening.
