I guess it's possible that he doesn't see the news. Maybe he doesn't realize that most pundits have moved away from the Kenyan/Monkey reference trope.

Well, moved on from saying it openly, perhaps. I suspect the underlying sentiment, which can be exploited for Republican gain, is still quite well in the population.

I want to see a black female president with a Mexican gay man as Veep. That would cause lots of heads to go asplodey.

Bill Maher, when the R's are being particularly asinine about Obama, calls him President Blackula.

The standard comedic reply to that idea would be to call it an insult to Blackula. That might still work, but I don't know how to do it.
