I got an email from them asking if I wanted to update my location to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

My last 5 jobs that I entered in their system all have me in Southern New Mexico. I have one connection in M/SP, a guy whom I worked with in Las Cruces who now lives up there, though I really don't know how a couple from India can thrive in that kind of weather, but good for them. One contact. Versus how many NM contacts down here?

Are they getting desperate for activity on their system or something? I thought it was a bad idea when they started introducing social networking rather than just pure business networking, what's the point of being connected to my brother and friends in their system if I've never worked with them?

For a site that's focused on one specific kind of activity, their search and parse engines really do suck, even moreso than the big search engines. Before I wound up turning their job recommendations off, I'd find them happily offering me jobs where the common factor with my resumé was.. the city where I had my internship. Yep - not even necessarily programming, just that they were in the same location I commuted to back around University. *golf clap*

That said, I've been finding some decent postings through manually searching there.

That said, the two main prospects at the moment came from Craigslist and Hacker News. =:/ Overall, I can't honestly say I've found LinkedIn much use, but I'll probably keep it around.
