I started this last July after talking with my wife. Two things spurred it: a friend lost his wife seven months prior and was trying the online dating pool and encountering scammers at a ridiculous rate, people known as Ghana Girls. You'd start communicating with them and all seemed nice, then they had to go back to Ghana because their mother had fallen and needed surgery. And then they didn't have enough money, or they wanted some foods from the USA shipped over. The second part was the conversation with my wife, she was idly speculating what an online dating site with a three-sex race would be like.

So my brain came up with SWN LFP. This is 1200 words with purposely unusual syntax. And it needs more words, but I've stalled out and not revisited it in 9 months.

SWN LFP
16 July 2014

She saw the ad on the eColor board when she returned to their domicile after her work shift ended, He was not due from his shift for a few hours yet. His shift had been offset for integration tests, so She could not yet share the information. Her excitement could hardly be contained, the ad was such a good fit for what they were looking for in a mate.

“SWN LFP. My lineage is certified Grade 8 for three generations, I expect yours to be above 5. Looking for a Green/Blue pair that has been bonded for at least five years, are post-transitional at least one year, deep tones acceptable. I am completing tertiary studies of Ez'nusta's Final Quarter and will make occasional requests for your experience of It's sensoria for my research. I have completed the full cycle of Ar'palo't cuisine and will happily prepare or supervise our meals, this is important to my gestalt. I am also a great admirer of photon sculpture.

Support requirements for our pod will be minimal for you as I am Status G and amply benefited. My eventual desire is for one pod for each of us if the first launch goes well. If first launch is non-viable, I will release you two with support for a year.”

The standard information followed: an image that She hoped was representative, height, mass, symmetry coefficient, and an anonymous contact code through the eColor system. Its contact was the surprisingly uninspired Gh'ait217, a phonetic play on words of its grade and status with a suffix.

Their own profile had not been successful and they considered seeing a specialist to see if any alterations might gain them their needed neutral.

“Pair(gr/bl) LFN. Bonded 5 years, post-transition, our lines certified 7/6 4 gen, looking for 6+, any color prefer pale. H: fold guidance, S: propulsion systems. Secondaries completed and passed. Have not found the right N for our first pod: are you it? Any viable result acceptable, would like one for each of us. We have no problem with a genetink for a good blend of features.” Their contact code was Fh'zep, surprisingly they were able to use the code without a suffix.

Theirs was a straightforward post, but it seemed that the only replies were from what appeared to be an unnatural breed: something termed a Sa'kava. She did not believe such deception was possible from a fellow sentient, dishonesty in propulsion systems caused failures that could terminate many fellows with such ferocious suddenness that the passengers and crew would never know of their peril. But such dishonesty existed copiously in the cyber networks and in realms such as eColor as She was now learning. The first such Sa'kava seemed initially honest, initial contact with It through the system was encouraging, then Its mother fell and one lower extremity required extensive repair, forcing It to travel unexpectedly to Its birthsands in far-away Ka'ana. Messages continued, somewhat delayed by light-speed burst relay, but It began requesting the transfer of funds as the abruptness of the travel had not allowed adequate preparation for It's needs. This caused some shock between She and He: how could It, claiming to be an 8E, have such a lapse? Even emergency travel such as It said It had had to do required time to find a ship translating along the route needed, then the need to book the shuttle to orbit. The circumstances became even more confusing when He did a search for the node address that the funds were to be sent to, and though an exact match was not found, a proximity match was returned reported as a place known for fraud from others searching for a Third.

When they asked It about this last point, It explained that It was living with Its uncle, and It would ask Him. No further messages were received.

Was It even a Neutral? Doubtful was the only thing that He and She could rationalize.

The next contact seemed equally promising, It was on a near-by planet only a few hours away via shuttle. Communications went well, and when a personal meeting was proposed It announced that It had received a legal entanglement that required It to go to Ka'ana suddenly, It would be out of contact for a few days as it traveled but would soon resume sending messages. The mention of Ka'ana immediately triggered warning alerts in both their gestalts, they immediately decided that It was, in all likelihood, another Sa'kava and they would continue messaging as a form of entertainment with no expectation of It joining as their Third. The inevitable request for money came, this time the entanglement had been decided in It's favor but there were Customs duties before It could complete It's return.

Messages from It ceased when they asked It if It had ever heard the term Sa'kava.

The next contact did not trip alerts regarding Sa'kavas and seemed legitimate, but was not compatible. It was a 9L and far too busy to be involved with the launch of a pod. They did not understand why It contacted them when they had clearly stated the desire to launch their first pod. 9's were a strange bunch, at least to those who were not 9's, why it was looking outside of its Grade was a question that they never resolved. Still, had they been able to arrange a 9L to join their bond, it would have brought much honor to them.

At last He returned, further delayed by stopping to purchase Her favorite delectable, a brine mist in suspension from a chandler who specialized in such. She had frequented ths chandler since Her youth, He knew the exact flavor profile that She desired. The mist went in to stasis for later enjoyment. She enfolded Him, whispering “My love, my life: today I viewed a possible Third on eColor, and It is an 8G!” His surprise and joy was palpable! He replied, while reveling in her embrace, “Can it be? After so many false hopes? Tell me of It, my life, my love!”

She led Him to the comm, He read after She recalled the message. “This is indeed promising! This 8G could be a great addition to our bond, Its image is pleasing, and Its admiration of photon sculpture melds well with your hobby.” “Yes,” She replied, “I find it beneficial to visualize the energy flows of new drive installations, it is also relaxing when no demands are being placed upon me. And I have not enjoyed Ar'palo't cuisine since our bondtrip celebration, it is simply not done properly here. I am confident that one who has completed the full cycle of that training would see it prepared well.”

“We should message It tonight. What should we say?”

“I have prepared a message that I would like to refine with your counsel. Let me retrieve it.”

“Sincerest greetings to Gh'ait217: we are intrigued by your profile and feel that there is strong potential that, were you to join our bond, that our gestalts would be greatly improved and that we might likewise enrich you. We also seek to launch our first pod and find your terms of non-viable release agreeable. We currently rate 7E and meet your other requirements as listed in your post. We are a green/blue pair and more pale than dense in tone. I design and construct propulsion systems, He is also an engineer of fold space control systems. As you may infer, we met on a liner construction job and have been bonded for five years now.”
