I'd forgotten that AOL had bought Huffington Post and Tech Crunch. Still, I can't say that it makes much long-term sense to me.

Hm! I suppose it's all about the eyeballs these days, and whilst HuffPo's not exactly a stellar model of journalism, everyone can agree they know how to manage clickbaiting headlines. =:/ TechCrunch can also be rather "popular" in its style, but nonetheless, often quite a decent read.

Similarly, Yahoo isn't somewhere especially in vogue, but it also sees a lot of traffic across all its different segments, and Flickr remains at the forefront of photo sharing services, with a lot of good communities, including Bunny Lovers Unite, where my work is not entirely unknown. ^_^ (Along with Springwatch et al, it's one of the groups I routinely post to)

Seems like it would be better at this point to buy AOL, move all the useful acquisitions or from under them, and then detonate AOL except for the IM client and the email services.
