"I'm trying to preserve an endangered culture -- the American culture -- and it is being overwhelmed by 30 million illegal and legal immigrants being dumped on this country from peasant cultures... If you don't want to be killed by ISIS, don't go to Syria. If you don't want to be killed by a Mexican, there's nothing I can tell you."
—Ann Coulter

Any culture, Ann, is a constantly changing thing, a moving target. The only preserved cultures are best found in Russia, Saudi Arabia, and North Vietnam.

No thank you, I like my culture alive and changing.

Nice to see her actually admit her hatred of durn furriners has nothing to do with legality - she's openly proud of being simply xenophobic.

The number of immigrants in the US through Ellis Island, or indeed during colonisation, we shall leave for her to ponder another time.

Oh, she's definitely Xenophobic: Lucy Lawless is just entirely too uppity a furriner, even if she is a princess, and should be home in the kitchen taking care of her man. ;-)

There is, of course, the perennial argument as to whether there are such things as can be described as "American culture" if they did not originate with the indigenous people of the area, because all else is bits and pieces of imported cultures, welded together by coexistence.

Perhaps Society might be a better label, but then you need to define the difference between culture and society, which could be an interesting discussion.

It's sort of like trying to define what American food is. so many foreign traditions have been brought over that everything is a melange.

Indeed. There's so much of things that seem "American" that can be traced to an immigrant community somewhere bringing it in. The thing that seems to make it "American" is the coexistence or fusion of one thing with another to create some other thing entirely.

She is one of those people, I just don't understand why ANYONE listens to a word they spew anymore. Trump is another, frankly.

You can add John McCain to that list. They like to spew and the news media continues licking it up.

Sad thing about McCain, though. He's an actual war hero, no taking that way from him, and now and then he makes sense and fights the good fight. It's just that those instances have become fewer and farther between, so usually these days he's just a parrot for the GOP, and a reliable purveyor of hawkishness. Furriners givin us lip? Bomb 'em!
