"It has not been easy for me. I started off in Brooklyn. My father gave me a small loan of a million dollars. I came into Manhattan, and I had to pay him back, and I had to pay him back with interest."
—Donald Trump

My dad never offered me the loan of a million dollars!

Didn't Romney have a similar line? Like I've said before and I'm sure I'll say again, Trump started on third base and thinks he hit a triple.

But he took that million and built the rest all by himself! That's the real point here! The million was just a formality, just a step on the path! The rest was all Trump and his Wharton education and negotiation skills! All the haters and losers should simply have had the wherewithal to be born to families with a million to loan, and that's on them!

But I think Carson is even worse. He's practically the poster child for what a combination of brains, hard work, and government assistance can combine to produce--yet he rails against the very programs that gave him and his family a leg up. But that's pretty standard for conservatives, seems to me.

Oh, a mere million, that's all. When most of us are mortgaging paychecks to shady operations because a lot of bills don't care when you get paid.

Why not take that million and give it to people so they can do what you did?
