Let the doxxing of the Ku Klux Klan begin!

The hacker collectivist Anonymous compromised a KKK Twitter account and somehow leveraged that in to getting detailed information on over a THOUSAND Klan members!

And they're releasing the information!

Last week the hacktivist group promised to reveal the identity of 1,000 members of the KKK after getting possession of the private information through a compromised Twitter account. A press release from Anonymous reads in part: "After closely observing so many of you for so very long, we feel confident that applying transparency to your organizational cells is the right, just, appropriate and only course of action. You are abhorrent. Criminal. You are more than extremists. You are more than a hate group. You operate much more like terrorists and you should be recognized as such. You are terrorists that hide your identities beneath sheets and infiltrate society on every level. The privacy of the Ku Klux Klan no longer exists in cyberspace. You’ve had blood on your hands for nearly 200 years. You continue to inflict civil rights violations, commit violent crimes and solicit others to commit violent criminal acts. You seek to intimidate and/or eliminate those that are different from you and those that you dislike by any means possible. You seek to terrorize anyone and anything that you feel is a threat to your narrow view of the 'American way of life'."

The dump on Pastebin includes names, phone numbers and email addresses. Including people in the U.S. Senate. Including city mayors.

This started when the Klan began sending armed vigilantes to Ferguson during the protests to 'protect police', as far as I know no one was injured. Anonymous went after them with a vengeance, claiming to have found links between the Klan and Ferguson police.

Hopefully this will have a more permanent effect than what the Superman radio show did to them earlier on.

I am taking this with many grains of salt, not least because this initial release seems to have come from a lone wolf rather than the Anonymous operation, and doesn't seem at all trustworthy. One of the mayors on the list (Madeline Rogero of Knoxville) is a Hispanic female with an interracial family and long history of supporting immigrants, minorities, and the LGBT community. Pretty sure she doesn't have a hood in the closet.

That said, I have no doubt that there are still KKK members serving in office--David Duke wasn't all that long ago!--and plenty of others who wear the hood in spirit if not practice. But all we need to spot those people are the laws they pass and enforce, and the people they're quickest to trample. Presently this is just a list of names.
