RIP: David Bowie!

Wow. He battled cancer for 18 months and was 69 years old. I hadn't heard he was ill.

His final album was released Friday, I'm going to pick it up today. Well, his final except for all of the 'lost tapes' albums that we'll be getting for the next 20 years.

Yep, seems he kept it all very quiet. I suppose it makes sense - there's nothing more that anyone could have done, and even as well meaning as people would have been, would he really have wanted that to be the atmosphere to spend his last year or two in, or have Blackstar debut to?

I read somewhere there are some extra Blackstar tracks that didn't make it onto this release. Would be cool if they were just added to iTunes purchases, rather than a new "deluxe edition".

I could definitely do with watching Labyrinth again. (I should check up on how it turned out they got Bowie for the role - was it some inspired idea by a casting director? Did he hear about it and pursue the role?) So perfectly suited for him, not to mention his musical contributions.
