You just know there's a NOT coming, don't you?
I go online and order three refills. Next day get a text saying one is not available, but not WHICH one. I recently changed pharmacies for Reasons, and the new one's text and online system is not advanced, which I don't like, but have to live with.
Yesterday I go to pick up the meds, ask what's up with the missing one, and am ultimately told after others are brought over to poke and prod at the computer that it is discontinued at the supplier. WTF? You'd think that if a medication is discontinued that the pharmacy would call you or the doctor to try to make other arrangements so that no interruption in treatment happens.
But I forgot: common sense ain't all that common.
I finish what I'm doing, get my other meds, go out to my car. Then have my phone open Google Maps and produce the phone number of the pharmacy that's a couple of blocks up the road. Call them: they have the med in stock, but same story: discontinued, no longer available from supplier.
Well, at least I can call my doc Tuesday night and get an Rx sent over and get a couple of months worth while we figure out an alternative. It's a nasal spray that I've been on for ages, shouldn't be a big deal.
I'm driving home, and my immunologist's office calls with info regarding filling another med, and I mention that I'm having trouble filling this med. The nurse says that's because it went generic FOUR MONTHS AGO.
Call me silly, but you'd think that when a med goes generic and starts being available over the counter without a prescription that this is something that pharmacy staff should be informed of so they could tell their customers of the change?
Silly me.
Not only that, TWO pharmacies.
AND my doctor's office. Three different orgs dealing with medicine, no one could be arsed to tell me, the person who has to take the drug, that I now have to buy it at retail, instead of with an Rx as I have been buying it for maybe a decade.
ARGH....
