Phoenix Con Games 2007: Nuclear War!
Jun. 16th, 2007 08:12 amWe had a big, fifteen player Nuclear War tournament, it was the first anniversary "Jim Walker Survived Cancer" game. Sadly, Jim wasn't there for it because his brother passed away a week earlier and they were in Safford for the funeral.
A fifteen player Nuke War tournament is something to behold. Nuke War is a fun little "beer & pretzel" game in which you are the leader of a nuclear nation. You engage in propaganda wars until you decide it's time to bring out the big guns and start nuking your neighbors! Fun for the family! It seems like every game you'll hear one of Flying Buffalo's flagship bumper stickers: "Have you got change for 10,000,000 people?"
Well, I didn't do too well in the game. I didn't have a lot of population to start with, and when the nukes started flying, I only had two missile/warhead combos. I was the third player eliminated. Come to think of it, the first two out were taken out during the propaganda phase of the game, I was the first nuclear death.
Quite a fun little game for the occasional play.
