We really need more major data breech news: Sonic Drive-In had a major hit

Sonic has 3,600 locations in 45 states, and this breech looks big, as in millions of cards. No information as to dates, just that a huge number of cards began appearing on the criminal forums where they're sold, and after some test purchases were made verifying that they had all made recent purchases at Sonic, Sonic was approached and it was confirmed that they had been breeched.

Krebs goes on to report that according to Visa, as of March of this year, 58% of Visa cards issued had chips, but only 44% of merchants had chip readers.

I've never been to Sonic, so yay!

I did get an email from Chase, wanting me to add my income to my Visa account. Assuming it was legit... seriously? You think I'm voluntarily giving info to some other company that might get hacked? I deleted it.

I eat there at extremely rare intervals, as in every couple of years.  As is my luck, my favorite sandwich was eliminated.  They do pretty good chili dogs, and their milkshakes are CRAZY thick.  They're also one of the few fast food joints that do tater tots, which I like for occasional variety.  I liked them when I worked at the uni about a decade ago as I think they were the only close fast food place near campus, you could get there and back in about 20 minutes, where you'd spend 10 minutes driving to the other side of town to hit other joints.

It's probably been over a year since I've eaten there, and I'm pretty sure I paid cash last time, so unless this hack started forever long ago I should be safe.
