Singapore has one of the highest vaccination rates in the world with over 85% of the country vaccinated and 18% boosted. It is also a monarchy, not any form of democracy, so the rulers make the rules. And as of January 1, if you have chosen not to get vaccinated, you'd better hope you don't get Covid or that you have an awful lot of money backing you because you're on your own!

There are exceptions for the young who haven't been vaccinated yet or the people who legitimately cannot be vaccinated. But religious exemptions? Homey don't do that. On your bike!

I am frankly sick and tired of these people who "Well, I've researched it and I have doubts." Oh! You've spent twenty years studying virology and disease and microbiology? No? I think everyone has a relative or knows someone who spouts some bullshit along these lines. And the University of Facebook graduates more and more of these idiots every day.

IT DOESN'T CAUSE STERILITY.
LONG-TERM EFFECTS WOULD HAVE SHOWN UP BY NOW WITH THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE VACCINATED WORLD-WIDE.

Meanwhile, according to today's Toronto Star, we have "sovereign citizen" people gathering in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside...as if the majority of the people living there don't have enough problems.

I'm waiting for a US insurance company to realize they could save money by deciding not to cover COVID-related expenses for unvaccinated patients, by claiming those are deliberate unreasonable risks.

...of course, US health care policies might not bother to mention the exemptions for medically-exempt patients and young children.

Also, microchips, while useful, do not fucking work that way. They're not GPS trackers - all my cats and dogs have them, and the only way they're useful is if they get picked up, somebody scans them for a chip, and then enters the code into a database I've registered them to. They don't transmit data - my mother has one of those too. It's in her heart, but in order for the information it collects to be any good whatsoever, she has to sleep near a scanner or hold the scanner to her chest for several minutes.

10,000 upvotes. I *wish* every school, business, company, church, theater, store, restaurant, etc, etc, etc would draw a hard line -- "If you don't have proof of vaccination, you can't come in. Exceptions only for children under 5 and those with valid medical contra-indications."

Basically, if they choose not to help society knock this thing down, *we* choose not to allow them to participate in society. Let them find out how hard it is to *literally* "go it alone".

Let us see how well this ends up turning out. I would very much like to see the unvaccinated by choice bear the brunt of consequences for their decisions, but I wonder how many of them are denialists and how many have other circumstances that need addressing.

Difficult to say, especially since this is a country with a very different government and society and extremely different set of social pressures.
