Bambu 3D printers went rogue and started printing overnight

The robot apocalypse is upon us!

It appears that the company had a cloud outage and it confused the printers, some tried to download their last job and reprint it, which was sometimes on top of the already-printed job, others just started slamming their print mechanism against its movement stops, potentially causing damage.

Were I in the market for a 3D printer, I think I would prioritize NO CLOUD DEPENDENCY. Granted, you sometimes start jobs to print overnight, I'd definitely power it off when not in use.

Cloud service 3D printers violate the "we do not give WiFi to fire, nor fire to WiFi" rules. Also, why would you need or want something that's cloud-connected as a 3D printer? LAN should be enough for most cases.

Because everyone wants you connected to their cloud so they can analyze what you're doing and try to monetize it.  There's also the control freak factor, and then when they go bust, all the devices stop working and become doorstops.  Witness the cloud-based pet feeders.

Yes. That's a real problem, and it's still Felony Contempt of Business Model to find ways to make them work even after the company has long since gone away.
