"If a larrikin bashed a tall poppy from the big end of town and his mate dobbed him in, he might tell the police the identity was a shonky operator. The identity, no doubt, would try to hose it down as a furphy."

This is the opening paragraph from an article on Australian slang, kinda cool, and it can be viewed here, mate.

Tonight I'm playing City of Heroes, I get in a group with a friend. She continues recruiting, and we end up with a defender named RustyDragon. We commence to spend a couple of hours kicking butt and not bothering to take names. In this one mission we're waiting for our fourth player to get off the phone and catch up, while we wait we start talking. One of the subjects that comes up is temperature and weather. RustyDragon mentions that it's 90 degrees and raining. It sounds suspiciously like home, so I ask him if he's in AZ. He answers in the affirmative.

Conversation continues, soon a private message comes from RustyDragon saying "Is that you, Wayne?" I stop and think for a minute. I only know four people playing CoH in Phoenix. It isn't Dan, because he's explicitly played with me with this character, he'd recognize the name. Besides, he's not doing too much CoH recently, instead he's been getting into World of Warcraft. It's not Jim or his brother Myge as the spelling is too good :-) and I think Jim would have noticed more quickly. So I send RustyDragon a private message basically saying "Ken?"

Sure enough, it was Ken.

Jim was watchig Firefly on DVD, Myge joined us for a mission then ran off on his own. Ken stayed with me and we did another mission of mine.

This is the same Jim as previously mentioned who has colon cancer. The biopsy came back as malignant, not benign, so it'll be the full gamut of treatment.

It is not going to be pleasant, I just hope that they caught it early enough that it can be successfully treated. It doesn't seem to have spread, so that's a good thing.

This is pretty cool. This person has written an interface between your LJ account's friend list and Google Maps that shows you a map of the world and where everyone is. Unfortunately it only works if your friends have plugged in their zip code, so mine looks a little anemic. Anyway, mine can be seen here.

In other gaming news, I've made a board game contact in Alamogordo! There's a web site called Board Game Geek where you can register yourself, all the games you've owned or played, etc. Again, someone has written an interface that will Google Map everyone within an X mile radius. I have found a German couple in Alamo, he's a pilot, I'm assuming with the German Air Force. Unfortunately they're moving back to Germany next year, still, it's cool to make international contacts.

Hopefully I'll be meeting up with them soon, I look forward to meeting them, they sound nice.

In other other news, I spoke with Russ this AM, she's arrived in Ohio and was getting ready to go to sleep. Hot and humid are her watchwords there, she's going to hook up with one of her sisters after she gets some rest and find out what's the latest news. I haven't had anything new on her condition since Tuesday IIRC, and since I have no phone numbers for her sibs, I can't call anyone!

Sigh.
