I think one of two things will have to happen. Either they're going to have to gene-engineer the critters up to the scale of a cow so that the milking equipment will work, or they'll have to scale down the milking equipment to fit the stupid stupid rat creatures. If you upscale the critters, there is no change in pollution. If you downscale the milking equipment, you'll need dozens, if not hundreds, of critters to make an equivalent volume of milk, sounds like pretty labor intensive.
