They've issued an order freezing engine development and forcing teams to develop in the areas of flywheels, emissions recovery, and alternative fuels.

It'll take a little while before it trickles down, but lots of stuff have started in F1 and ended up in your driveway.

I see this as a real boon for American motor sports that aren't governed by a French body. This provides an opportunity for expansion into new, USA-centric leagues. If I were an American automaker getting hammered by costs, I'd be looking to shift my sponsorship $$ home.

Why is that there's always some kind of ban-hammer approach to increasing alternative fuel popularity? Every time I read something like this I just want to waste more oil, LOL.
