The interesting bit is that they say it is not the religion or the practice of it, per se, but the practices of the organized Church of Scientology that they are protesting.
I'm surprised. (Not at the site but the fact that I've never heard of it.) My one-stop Scientology information site has been xenu.net for a long time. (My favorite bit on their site is "Operation Foot Bullet, a list of times when Scientology has shot itself in the foot.) That page has a link to a great definition of a cult, which says nothing about the religious impulses and everything about how the group is structured. "Its wealth does not benefit its members or society. It cuts its members off from outside contact..."
There's also a splinter group of Scientology that keeps the same beliefs but abhors the Church of Scientology, basically saying that the beliefs are valid but the tactics are wrong. I can approve of that.
