I've been using Palm Pilots since the III and need to get a new one. I have a TX, and it sucks, so I'm thinking about the new Tungsten E2 for $200. But I'm also vaguely considering a Windows-based PDA like the HP iPAQ 111 Classic Handheld, but I'm balking slightly at the $300 sticker price. I haven't done much searching, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations based on experience regarding the Windows-based PDAs.

I would personally prefer to stick with Palm Pilots, but I don't think they're going to be around for much longer (> 10 years). And I'm not going to buy a Blackberry or other similar device, I want a PDA for the PDA functionality, I don't want a phone built-in to it.

Thanks for the suggestions! (hopefully!)

I plan to move to the Windows Mobile platform when my Zire 72s peters out -- unless Palm gets their act together and releases the new Linux product they've been hinting at in the next 12 months. But it really seems that Palm as a company is on the way out due to inept management, which is a shame. Their stock was recently downgraded, and their Treo line discontinued.

You might enjoy reading this blog. Its been great at keeping me informed about the goings on at Palm.

I hadn't heard of the Linux concept, I'll definitely dig into the blog you've pointed me to. It's really surprising how long the company has endured, I'm not sure they've had anything that you could call good management in a long time.
