I've been using Palm Pilots since the III and need to get a new one. I have a TX, and it sucks, so I'm thinking about the new Tungsten E2 for $200. But I'm also vaguely considering a Windows-based PDA like the HP iPAQ 111 Classic Handheld, but I'm balking slightly at the $300 sticker price. I haven't done much searching, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations based on experience regarding the Windows-based PDAs.

I would personally prefer to stick with Palm Pilots, but I don't think they're going to be around for much longer (> 10 years). And I'm not going to buy a Blackberry or other similar device, I want a PDA for the PDA functionality, I don't want a phone built-in to it.

Thanks for the suggestions! (hopefully!)

The refurb concept is an excellent idea, thank you! Right now Palm doesn't have any refurb listed, but that spurred the concept of watching eBay. Fortunately we found my missing unit and it's still OK, though the battery was totally drained.

Definitely need to do some digging on this Linux concept.
