"I think on a national level your department of law there in the White House would look at some of the things that we've been charged with and automatically throw them out."
-- Sarah Palin, on how she would handle ethics complaints if she were in the White House

I haven't seen the article yet, but I heard there is a Slate article saying that the real reason she quit is that she can make buckets of money on the Republican rubber chicken speaking circuit. She's another one where I'm waiting for her 15 minutes of fame to be up.

It's not likely that will happen until after she gets into the next Presidential primary and then gets stomped on. Or worse, wins and then goes to the general.

Until then, yes, it's the speaking circuit for her, where she can gain sufficient power to rival the current party leader, Rush Limbaugh.

If she shows up in the primary (which I honestly doubt; I think she's gone and good riddance to her, you betcha), I'll be crossing party lines and voting for her opponent.

I wouldn't be surprised if she goes to ground for a couple years and then reappears, assuming the populace will have forgotten about her in the intervening time (and likely Republican scandals), and can thus be all mavericky again to a new audience, while pushing her converted base out to intimidate or drown out anyone who tries to say, "Hey, haven't we seen this song and dance before?"
