I'm cooking some shelled edamame even as I type. Bring water to boil with a little salt in it, add edamame, boil for 4-5 minutes. 2 minutes in, the water isn't boiling quite yet, but you can see the beans bouncing on the bottom of the pan sort of like Mexican jumping beans.

Kinda cool. If I ever get a video camera, I'm going to be dangerous....

Psh, nuh-uh! Steamed, in the pod, with a little salt. Then you suck 'em out. It's finger food and it tricks my brain into thinking it's getting something naughty... like potato chips.

I love edamame. I actually like most veggies if they're fresh and well prepared.

Try Fleur de Sel with 'em. Very nice, large flake salt. Not cheap, but you use very little of it so it lasts a long time. I'll have to try steaming them, one thing is sure: no nuking!

I usually throw them in the top of my rice cooker for a couple minutes. They really don't take very long at all.

And they make frozen edamame that you can nuke in the bag. Not as good as fresh by any stretch of the imagination, but not as bad as I anticipated.
