I'm cooking some shelled edamame even as I type. Bring water to boil with a little salt in it, add edamame, boil for 4-5 minutes. 2 minutes in, the water isn't boiling quite yet, but you can see the beans bouncing on the bottom of the pan sort of like Mexican jumping beans.

Kinda cool. If I ever get a video camera, I'm going to be dangerous....

I usually throw them in the top of my rice cooker for a couple minutes. They really don't take very long at all.

And they make frozen edamame that you can nuke in the bag. Not as good as fresh by any stretch of the imagination, but not as bad as I anticipated.
