Tell you what, dude: I'll take your million and you can take what I earn, and we'll see what you think then. For that matter, you might be able to find a couple of others in this country who'd take you up for that deal.

There's a signature that I see occasionally on Slashdot that I quite like: "I don't mind paying taxes: with taxes I buy civilization."

But I'm also mindful of the famous quote: "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others."

For the most part, those who agitate for socially-engineered theft from the wealthy are shooting liberty in the foot. It wasn't the average Joe who was instrumental in the American Revolution. It was the wealthy man who pledged, and in many cases lost, his personal fortune. For another example, Oscar Schindler could not have saved the Jewish lives he did if he had not been allowed to accumulate great wealth.

Excessive taxation is one of the great enemies of liberty. Covetousness of what others have is one of the great clouds of logic.
