"Barack Obama is the worst president in history. And my generation will inherit a weakened country. Drug cartels in Mexico, tax cartels in D.C. What's happened to America? I love Arizona. I was raised right. Somebody has to go to Washington and knock the hell out of the place."
-- Ben Quayle, son of Dan Quayle, running for Congress in AZ

I'm from Arizona, I spent over 40 years there. I'm glad to see that they're upholding the fine standards of idiotselected representatives that are going to Congress.

There are two branches of government that pass laws: Executive & Legislative, and usually they have to cooperate to some degree to get laws passed. You don't often hear talk about worst Congresses, and I'm not sure where I'd say we last had a 'good' combination of the two. Personally, I think all incumbents should be thrown out on their ears, but I don't think that's too likely to happen.

I'm just hoping Ben here's as good a source for sound bites as his dad was.

In this state we thought the incumbents should be thrown out too, so we instituted term limits. It means that instead of evil doctrinaire hacks running the government, we now have evil doctrinaire hacks who are inexperienced, incompetent amateurs. They're generally ones the voters turned down in previous elections, too.

What's more, even though no state representative (for example) can have as much as four years in office at the time of the election, the people running as replacements still run while carping against "career politicians." Which we don't have any more. And the voters seem to be stupid enough to fall for it. Or at least the folks running campaigns THINK they are.

Ugh. I love Arizona, but the entire state government (including representatives and senators) needs to be gutted. It's kind of embarrassing.

Well, Mr. Quayle, I'm sure you'd have some friends, but if you want to go knock some people around, don't be surprised if they start with the people you think are actually decent folk.
