Talk about a massive overuse of Data Protection Act! Guy in England chips his Jack Russel Terrier. It disappears from his back yard. Three years later the chip tracking company contacts him and wants to know if he wants to add his address to the new owner's records. When he asks for the new owner's address, the tracking company says that he has to go to court because they can't reveal the new owner's address without their permission without a court order.

So what's the freakin' point of chipping your pet?

Seriously. They tell us that chipping is supposed to bring the dog back to you if it's lost, gone, or stolen. But if nobody's willing to disclose, then the owner can't get their pet back. Stu-pid.
