"There is no such thing as global warming."
— Rick Santorum

*sigh*

In a recent NPR article, a poll showed that Americans are more skeptical than ever that climate change is real. A poll also shows that 97% of American scientists believe that global warming is real.

Ah, but you know that in Amurika anyone who knows what the frack they're talking about is some intellectual who thinks he's better than you, and an insider corrupted by the system to boot. You can only trust people who are ignorant and stupid.

I never understood the 'elect Bush' tagline about 'the candidate that you'd like to have a beer with'. A: overall, I don't like beer (I don't drink much period). B: I would really like my elected officials to be smarter than me. I would also hope that they're sufficiently altruistic that they will do what is best for the country, above personal and party alignments.

I guess my momma dropped me on my head once too often as a baby.

Aaaaay-greed. And then I start talking about how Bush did this, or Obama for that matter, and it was stupid. And I have their supporters saying "Do you think you could do better? If you couldn't do better, shut up."

Bullpuckey. The Prez sure damn OUGHT to be able to do the job better than I could If he can't, what's he doing there?

We don't have political beliefs, we have political FAITHS. It's like when I used to go to church, and no matter how horrible the Ladies' Trio was, or how fumblingly incompetently ignorantly redneck the preacher was, we had to smile and say Amen because they was doing it for Jayzuss, for whom pureness of heart meant more than competence.

And no matter how often evil prospered, good suffered, and lightning struck the church steeple, we kept praying and dropping our dollars in the plate. It didn't matter that it wasn't logical and didn't work, we had FAITH in it. We had FAITH, and if we lowered our head and ran into the brick wall fast as we could with our eyes closed hard and FAITH in our hearts, we would bust through for sure this time, no matter what happened the last thousand times we tried it.

And that, sir, is what our politics has become. Pick your faith and get stupid.

Those 3% are trying to let you know about the conspiracy of the other 97% to keep the truth from you so the UN and the EPA can control your lives.

...I would prefer a world where people who actually know things are revered (although challenged), rather than reviled.
