"I don't want to get weird on this, so please take it for what it's worth...When Jesus was crucified and when he died, the curtain in the temple was rent from top to bottom...and it was extremely symbolic. Is [the earthquake-caused crack in the Washington Monument] symbolic? You judge."

And I'm certain that nothing else in DC was damaged. And this is obviously a result of our tolerance of homosexuality and our allowing abortion.

Date: 2011-08-27 09:47 pm (UTC)As I understand it, a person called Jesus did live around 30 CE in the area in question. Some consider him more of a prophet than a son of god. The gospels were written a long time after the period in question, so difficult to say. I haven't heard of any written records independently verifying miracles, so again, difficult to say. What I've always been intrigued by is that there are other written gospels, but they're not considered cannon. So who decided what would and would not be included? To me, there's far too much bias from a small group of people who want to control everyone else in religion. I prefer The Life of Brian philosophy: you've got to work it out for yourselves.
I really wish you two lived near us, it'd be great fun throwing this stuff back and forth over dinner. I had such a group of four or five people, but they've mostly spread to the winds.
