This guy is pond scum. Not only is he accused of sexually harassing at least 18 women, he also sexually harassed women military veterans WHO WERE ALREADY VICTIMS of sexual harassment and sexual violence. Earlier this month he entered a two-week treatment program for sexual harassers, which struck me as probably as effective as Pray The Gay Away for people like Bob here, then he left a week early to continue 'on an out-patient basis'. He was required to attend a City of San Diego sexual harassment workshop when he started, then, with a wave of his Mayoral pen, canceled the workshop.

Though I read it yesterday, I couldn't find an online transcript of Bob's resignation speech. He was full of himself. He was the first Democratic mayor in 20 years, and blames the Republican machine for his downfall. At first, my wife thought that maybe he had a brain tumor that went undiagnosed, and that was responsible for his behavior, but it's come out that he's been slime for a very long time.

This will be the end of Bob's political career, and hopefully he won't be in the news anymore, except for the criminal charges against him that are being investigated along with the probable civil suits, though he's hoping that his resignation, and a deal he's cut with the City, will avoid some of the civil side.

Ugh. That scandal has been gross the whole time, and I'm glad to see it ended with resignation.

It'll be kept alive for a while, it's not effective until the end of the week and his position is not filled until a special election in 90 days. And then there'll be the court cases. But at least the end is visible and his days in the news will be steadily declining, or so we can hope.

Or so we can hope. I wonder if and when the opposition will try to throw that in the Democrats' faces.

They may, but I don't think it'll get any traction. I've never found being an ass to be indicative of party affiliation. I'm just amused and saddened when (R)'s are caught in morals kerfuffles considering how they claim to be morally straight and religious, it certainly doesn't mean that the (D)'s are immune.
