Yep. It's secure! Apparently entering all spaces allowed him access to his dad's account. The flaw has been fixed.

There's an old Groucho joke that I shall paraphrase: 'A five year-old could understand this report! (go out and get me a five year-old, I can't make heads nor tails of it!)'

I thought the kid finding the flaw was pretty amusing, I'd be mortified if something like that happened to a system that I wrote. But then again, I don't write security or password systems, so hopefully I'm safe.

It was probably test code that managed to not get caught before production. A cheat code left in the system.

That certainly is a possibility, I've had that happen. Something like that indicates a lack of a dev/test/production promotion system, an environment that I unfortunately have never had the opportunity to work in.
