Idaho state Rep. Vito Barbieri and physician Julie Madsen, during House State Affairs Committee discussion of a bill concerning video conferencing and abortions:

Barbieri: "You mention the risk of colonoscopy. Can that be done by drugs?"

Madsen: "It cannot be done by drugs. It can, however, be done remotely, where you swallow a pill, and this pill has a little camera and it makes its way through your intestines, and those images are uploaded to a doctor who's often thousands of miles away, who then interprets that."

Barbieri: "Can this same procedure be done in a pregnancy -- swallowing a camera and helping the doctor determine what the situation is with the child?"

Madsen: "It cannot...because when you swallow a pill it would not end up in the vagina."

Barbieri: "Fascinating..."

I believe there should be a common sense test that must be passed before one can take office.

I saw a tshirt online that said "Common sense is like deodorant. The people who need it the most never use it."

I can't get over the failure to understand basic human biology.

Rules are specific about this. A legislator that will be making decisions about lady parts clearly should know nothing about them, so as to ensure that the best decisions are made by God speaking through them.

Oh, for mandatory testing in applicable fields to qualify for selection on any given committee.. true, you wouldn't be expected to be an expert, but having some basic understanding of the human digestive tract versus reproductive systems might not be exactly a bad thing.

Of course, such requirements would have to be agreed upon by these cretins..
