"I think [Donald Trump] understands the real sentiment of America. Although we can't trust him to do what he says, the other Republican candidates won't even say what he says. So he's certainly the best of the lot."
—former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard David Duke

"Donald Trump may be the last hope for a president who would be good for white people...I'm sure he would repudiate any association with people like me, but his support comes from people who are more like me than he might like to admit."
—white nationalist writer Jared Taylor

A recent study found that Trump's supporters are solidly Birthers, on the order of 60% believe Obama is a Muslim and over 30% believe he was not born in the USA.

So they seem an easy sell for Trump's narrative.

Funny thing is, they're right - Trump gets a lot of his support from people that polite society prefers to believe don't exist, mostly for saying those things that polite society prefers to believe don't exist.

Which is why he could capture the populist part of the Republicans, but the moneyed part will shut him down.

Doesn't that require faith in the human nature of the Kochs and Waltons?

I don't think so, but I could be optimistic. I think there are enough other corporations with power that can cause issues within the party, even if it is in desperation to stop someone with the support of the necessary voters to win. Mitt Romney got the nomination the last time, despite several popular firebrands in the field. So at the point when it truly matters, I don't think Trump will have enough support in the caucuses and primaries.

I'm not entirely convinced that Trump is sincere on running, I think he might be in it just for the luls. For that matter, Fox is in an interesting position. If Hillary (or any Dem) gets elected, they get 4 or 8 more years of getting to bitch about the Establishment. If one of their own is elected, then it's not as good for ratings and they have to tread more carefully.

I have found Scott Adams' examination of Trump's use of neurolinguistic programming to be quite interesting and I strongly suggest checking it out. Unfortunately his blog doesn't support a tag cloud, so you'll have to go back a week or two to get to the beginning of his analysis.
